Ox & Gate runs a free weekly open mic that genuinely welcomes anyone. All styles, all skill levels. Sign up on the night (arrive by 7:20 to grab a spot) or book ahead. Slots run 10 minutes each. One unwritten rule: buy something from the bar to keep the place going.
This isn't a launchpad or a showcase. It's just a room where people can play. You'll get covers and originals, funny stuff and serious attempts, occasionally something actually good. Half the regulars have been working the same material for months. Half are still figuring it out. That rough mix is what keeps it honest.
