Canons House is a community art space in Carshalton, South London. It stages local artists and neighbourhood events like the summer fair. Not the cutting-edge gallery scene of central London. The work here has real roots in the area and brings people together. Carshalton itself is residential, leafy, quieter than inner London. You come to see what artists in the neighbourhood are making and to be part of that community. Not the place for experimental work or major-name shows. If you want a venue that knows and programmes for its actual community, worth the trip south.
