If you play ukulele, or fancy having a go, the Royal George runs a regular Wednesday night for it. Free, and the room downstairs fills with players at all levels, from people learning their first shapes to seasoned strummers. No gatekeeping. Bring your instrument, buy a pint, join in.

It works because everyone's there for the same reason: to play, not to perform. The vibe is inclusive rather than precious. You'll find the kind of people who'd rather spend a Wednesday in a basement with a uke than doing something cooler elsewhere.
